  Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility, as it has been defined at Epiphany, represents this community's commitment to reach out to the larger world. The many ministries listed under Social Responsibility express the Gospel concern to love all persons, especially those who suffer from oppression, deprivation, or violence.

Social Responsibility has always been one of the fundamental values of the Epiphany community. Founding Pastors Dick Fowler and Jim Flynn understood care for the world's broken ones and the pursuit of justice to be moral obligations of a Catholic parish. Hence, it is not surprising that at Epiphany the Social Responsibility ministries represent a very large network of parishioners. The collaborative work of charity, seeking justice and peacemaking has not only made for some demanding and worthwhile work, but has simultaneously formed a close knit, intimate body of believers who learn, grow, and celebrate with each other.

Whether the mission is healing the wounds of a war-torn Third World country or responding to the emergency needs of the East End of Louisville, the work of Social Responsibility finds its inspiration in the Gospels, Catholic social teaching, and the example of fellow believers. Furthermore, Jesus' call to address the pain of the world is not limited to a few; it is a call to all believers. And, so, every parishioner is called, invited, and welcomed to join in the important and lifegiving work of Social Responsibility. The following represent some of the opportunities available:
